Detroit Police celebrate International Women’s Day

On this International Women’s Day, we want to give a special shoutout to all of Detroit’s female first-responders! These women work tirelessly to protect and serve the citizens of Detroit. Whether they are working some of the most challenging police cases, or running into burning buildings or serving as paramedics providing life saving measures, the women who serve with Detroit Police Department and City Of Detroit Fire Department make us proud.

Every year we recognize our Fabulous Women Heros at Women in Blue. Our 2021 Women In Blue Award Ceremony is June 8, 8:30 am at the Fabulous Roostertail. For information on sponsorship, email cdrewry@detroitpublicsafety.org.

Did you know that the Detroit Police Department is a leader across the country for the number of female officers on the force? DPD is about 25% female, a number much higher than the national average. These pictures just highlight a few of the amazing women serving Detroit.
